Independent

Independent Truck Company based in Santa Cruz, California was established in 1978. The brand began with the aim of designing the Independent truck (or Indy) as a response to the lack of good skateboard trucks on the market at the time but since then have evolved into a mainstay of the skateboarding world with a clothing line joining their long established hardware offerings. The iconic logo for the trucks, the Alisee (often mistaken for the Iron Cross), came out in 1979 when Pope Jean Paul II was wearing theicon on his vestment on the cover of TIME magazine June 18, 1979.
It has remained the Independent logo since inception.
