Atticus
"The Atticus vision is fashion for todays youth, whilst giving this generation a choice. We create clothes for those who create music and have built our reputation through countless tours, hours in the studio, late nights and after shows. For the kid who doesn't quite fit the mold of todays saturated skate/surf culture, Atticus provides a choice. A brand that is grounded in the culture of music, founded and run by musicians."
Atticus was founded in 2001 by Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus of Blink-182, and their childhood friend Dylan Anderson. The name was taken from the character Atticus Finch in the book 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. The Atticus logo, created by Dylan Anderson, known as the "Resting Bird" depicts a bird lying on its back, a pictorial representation of the book and the character Finch, a lawyer who defended a black man on trial for rape. Strongly influenced by music the brand compiled three volumes of their 'Dragging the Lake' CDs, featuring bands such as Blink-182, Alkaline Trio, New Found Glory, Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, Death Cab for Cutie, Rise Against and Coheed and Cambria.
