About Team Hell Clothing

Team Hell Clothing was established in 2004 in response to personal frustration in obtaining top quality skate / punk wear at competitive prices within the UK and Europe.

Team Hell aims to:

  • Provide our customers with top quality customer service. We let you know exactly when to expect your parcel and are happy to exchange items that don't fit. We are available by email from 8.30am-9pm to answer your queries or by phone from 10am - 4pm (Monday-Friday).

  • Offer our customers the friendly and efficient service that is expected of an independent family business. Plus we check our own prices against those of our competitors and wherever possible we keep them as low or lower than other stores.

  • Ensure that you get your stuff when you want it. We always aim to deliver within 2 working days in the UK and within 5 working days in the EU. We aim to despatch on the same day we receive your order.

  • Include free stickers, posters, etc. in every order - we are always happy to promote events or people that we think our customers might be interested in by sending out your stickers, promo CDs or flyers with our orders.

  • Continue to search out new talent from up and coming brands. Team Hell was one of the first to bring many of your favourite brands to the UK including To Die For, Black Market, Sullen, Dekline, Iron Fist, Lowbrow, Affliction, Rockett and many others.

We are not just about selling you clothing either - we support skateboarding and alternative lifestyles within the UK. We have worked with bands, record labels, up-and-coming UK/European brands, tattooists and other members of the skateboarding/punk community to ensure that our lifestyle survives another decade. We can be found trading at tattoo conventions and alternative lifestyle events across the UK and in the crowd at MMA fight nights and gigs.

Team Hell is an ethically minded company, we favour suppliers who trade ethically, we use recycled packaging where possible and we minimise waste and energy consumption. We also urge all of our customers to recycle our packaging after each order.

Peace,

Stew George

Team Hell

History

"Team Hell" used to be what my husband and I called ourselves when we first met. We gave ourselves that name since when something came up that neither of us wanted to do one of us would end up saying, "Come on, we're a team", as if to mean we'll get it done together and the other one would say "Yeah, team hell." Well it stuck and we were Team Hell, and when we got a little puppy boxer dog he joined Team Hell too.

Stew left uni without finishing his computing degree in 2002; he thought he liked computers after being addicted to the fledgling internet as a teenager. Truth was he hated computers, so he packed in the C++ and spent six months enjoying a haze of ex-student life that consisted of all the benefits of being at uni, without any lectures. Soon enough though his cash dried up and he had to get himself a job. We wrote a list of things he wouldn't mind doing and he ended up getting a part-time job at a dog kennels clearing up dog poo. He got paid £50 a week which was what it cost him to get there but I was still a student and life was relatively cheap so it didn't matter.

Trouble was I finished uni and trained as a teacher and had to move to start my first post which meant Stew left the kennels behind. His Dad offered him some money to start a business and since we both loved dogs we decided to give our own kennels a go. We didn't get the planning permission we needed though and were back to the drawing board.

So we wheeled out the old list of things Stew could do and by that stage there were only 3 options left: start an online clothing store, open a record shop or become a gardener. In those days Napster was king so the record shop was out and for a long time it looked like he was destined to become a gardener since everyone we asked for advice said the online store was too risky. In the end after some serious soul-searching he went with his heart and Team Hell was born. We gave the business our name, and stopped using it for ourselves, we've only ever had one complaint about the 'Hell' part of the title, but that's another story.

I've read a fair number of these things about how companies started and it always seems corny when you get to the part about how the business was run out of someone's front room, but that is exactly how it goes most of the time and we were no different. We packed orders on our dining table and worked out of the cold, damp basement of our old house. Then as the business got going we started packing on Stew's Dad's ping pong table that was starting to collapse under the boxes of stock. That was back in 2004 and Team Hell is still going strong, the ping pong table has been replaced by a slick warehouse operation but we are still a family run business and we all muck in and take pride in what we do.

We enjoy providing our customers with top quality clothing at the fairest prices we can manage and we go out of our way to ensure we are up there with the best when it comes to customer service. Stew loves running Team Hell, and we both get excited about seeing the new lines come in and trying to make the business a success. We've met some great people along the way too and some of them have become good friends.

But most of all we've learnt what our customers want: we know you want your stuff with you as soon as physically possible, we know what you like and we know which of the thousands of designs we see each season will work with your lifestyle and your image. That's why when you've shopped with us once you'll want to come back and it's why we still have customers with us now who had their first orders packed on our dining table. Here at Team Hell we love what we do and we hope you love shopping with us.
